The Moran basketball season ended this week with the high school boys playing in Ranger on Tuesday, Feb. 18.

Results from that game and from the Bulldogs’ match in Strawn on Feb. 11 were not available at press time and will be reported next week.

The boys varsity team lost a close game to Gordon on Friday, Feb. 14, falling 38-36.

The high school girls played Strawn’s Lady Hounds on Tuesday, Feb. 11.

“District play wrapped up for the girls with a 65-33 loss to Strawn,” said coach John Hughes. “I can’t say enough about the girls and how hard they played all year. We made some great strides throughout the year, although the scoreboard didn’t always show it.”

Scoring for Moran last Tuesday were Reshaley Schafer 12, November Meredith 8, Johnnie Hise 7, and Dariann Hawley 6.

Also playing for the Lady ’Dawgs this year were Chloe Hendricks, Sage O’Keefe, Emily Murk, Tiffany Wade, Harmony Slaughter, and Hannah Rogers.

The Moran girls went 3-23 on the season and 0-10 in District 20-A.

“We’re only graduating one player,” said Hughes. “Nine girls will return next year, and we’ll keep the same coach, so the future for Moran Lady Bulldogs basketball looks good.”
