Lady Bulldogs defeat Ranger

Moran lost last Tuesday’s home match with Lingleville to finish pre-district with a 6-4 record, but volleyed back on Saturday, Sept. 14, to beat their first district opponent in straight sets.
Lingleville
“Lingleville has a strong team,” said coach Jo Hise. “We were defeated in three sets.”
According to athletic director John Hughes, the Lady Bulldogs fought to the very end, but it just wasn’t their night.
Moran lost to Lingleville 15-25, 5-25, 15-25.
Ranger
The varsity girls returned to the court on Saturday, Sept. 14 to open district play against Ranger in Bulldog Gym.
“In the first set, Jaylynn Roberts led our scoring with five points,” said Hise. “In the second set, Johnnie Hise led with nine points and November Meredith with seven.”
Hannah Rogers led the team with eight points in the third set.
“We executed our plays very well, remained calm, and took control of the ball during all three sets,” said the coach. “I’m proud of how they played as a team, working together and keeping each other’s attitude up.”
Moran won in three sets, 25-17, 25-16, 25-10.
Schedule
The junior high and varsity teams traveled to Strawn on Tuesday,.
Results were not available at press time and will be reported next week.
This Saturday, Sept. 21 the Lady Bulldogs will play in Newcastle starting at 10:00 a.m.
District competition will continue on Tuesday, Sept. 24 for both teams when they host Hawley for matches starting with the middle school at 5:00 p.m., followed by the varsity.
