The JV football team filled in a blank on the schedule with a game against Haskell played in Hamlin last week, maintaining their undefeated season with a 26-0 win.

The JV will host Cross Plains today at Robert Nail Stadium immediately following the combined junior high game. Kickoff is expected at 6:15 p.m.

Albany picked up last week’s game after Roscoe was unable to put a JV team on the field this season. However, the Lions will face the Haskell JV again next week in Haskell.

The Lions opened the scoring on a four-yard run by Samuel Rosas. The two-point attempt failed.

Quarterback Cole Chapman combined with Luke Ivy on a 58-yard pass play for a tally. Caden Price ran in the two-point conversion to give the Lions a 14-0 lead.

Price also scored the next Albany touchdown on a 26-yard run to increase the lead to 20-0. The conversion attempt failed.

The final score came on an 18-yard pass from Chapman to Cooper Fairchild. The two-pointer failed.

“I thought our backs – Cade Price, Samuel Rosas and Cole Chapman – all ran hard, and our line did a good job of adjusting to an odd defensive front,” coach David Fairchild said. “Luke Ivy, Malachi Gueldner, and Cooper Fairchild each had some big receptions.”

The coach also commended the defensive squad.

“We had a lot of people getting to the ball, including our ends Bryce Asher and Tye Edgar, along with Ty Everitt on the inside.”

The coach also commended Price and Taren Farmer for “filling holes and making plays.”

He added that Jayden Lucas and Fair-child both had some big hits on defense.

The JV holds a 7-0 record for the season.
