The high school boys basketball season has started on a limited basis as the program waits for more players to join in at the conclusion of the football playoff run by the Lions.

The JV opened the season at home Saturday with a 56-9 romp over the Woodson varsity team.

The Albany varsity schedule is on hold pending the end of football.

“This was a really solid start for the season considering we haven’t even had a practice yet,” coach Rod Britting said. “The guys hustled and put a lot of pressure on Woodson which led to some easy buckets.”

The coach tapped Adam Hill as offensive standout with 16 points, while London Fuentes was named for defense.

Scoring points were Houston Heatly 6, Keatin Russell 3, Brayden Watson 7, Fuentes 8, Caden Price 4, Lute Wheeler 3, Lanxton Viertel 7, and Hill 16.

The JV and varsity Lions are on the schedule to travel to Eastland on Tuesday, Dec. 1 for a set of games starting at 4:00 p.m.
