The JV Lion football team improved to 3-0 for the season with a 28-0 shutout of the Haskell Indians last Thursday in their first home game of the season.

The JV will host Anson this Thursday (today) at about 6:30 p.m. after the two junior high games

Albany churned out the offense behind the protection of the line.

“I was very pleased with our offensive line,” coach David Fairchild said. “I also saw a lot of second-effort blocking down the field.”

The coach named standouts as Zane Waggoner, Tye Edgar, Cole Read, Cort Peterson, Koy Cauble, Coy Knight, and Adam Hill.

Caden Price opened the scoring for the JV with a 10-yard run for a touchdown early in the first quarter. The two-point attempt failed.

The second tally came on a 16-yard pass from quarterback Lute Wheeler to London Fuentes. The two-pointer failed to leave the score at 12-0.

Price scored again on a 35-yard run, followed by the two-point pass from Wheeler to Keatin Russell.

Fuentes picked off an Indian pass to set up the final score for the Lions.

Samuel Rosas got the call for the final four yards for the score, with Wheeler passing to Adam Hill for the conversion to end the scoring at 28-0.
