The JV Lions defeated the visiting Clyde freshman team, 56-0, last Thursday to keep a perfect 5-0 season record.

The JV is open this week, but will be back in action next week hosting the Stamford Bulldogs. The game will follow the eighth grade matchup against Stamford.

JV Scoring

The JV had little trouble against the visiting Clyde team, scoring almost at will.

“We were much better than the Clyde team, so there wasn’t a lot of competition to challenge us,” coach Rod Britting said. “The good part for us was that everyone got to contribute and get a lot of playing time.”

On the down side, Britting said the Lions had to “put on the brakes” to keep from scoring too much.

“It turned into a total team effort, and lots of guys got to see success,” he said.

Albany opened the scoring on an 11-yard pass from Cole Chapman to Isaiah Carrillo for the touchdown, followed by a two-point run by Caden Price.

Barrett Beal added to the total with a 31-yard scoring run also in the first quarter to improve the lead to 14-0. The try for two failed.

Ryan Mark caught a seven-yard pass from Chapman for the third score, followed by London Fuentes catching the two-point pass to give Albany a 22-0 lead at the end of the first period.

Price also had a 23-yard carry for a touchdown to close out the first quarter. The two-point pass attempt failed.

Samuel Rosas ran the ball in from 23 yards out in the second period, followed by a two-point run on a keeper by Chapman to put the Lions up 36-0.

Rosas also scored on a seven-yard run before the half and Carrillo took the two-point play over for a 44-0 lead at the half.

Cooper Fairchild scored on a seven-yard run in the third quarter to take the score to 50-0. The try for two failed.

Fuentes scored the final tally on a 17-yard run, ending the scoring at 56-0. The PAT attempt failed.
