The JV Lions football team remains undefeated after a 40-0 shutout over the visiting Roscoe Plowboys last Thursday.

The JV Lions will be the only team taking the field this week, picking up a bout against Winters JV at Robert Nail Stadium on Thursday (today). Kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m.

The Lions, now 5-0 for the season, scored on every possession against the Plowboys.

Robert Bailey opened with a four-yard run for the first tally, followed by a two-point conversion pass from Cade Neve to Cooper Fairchild.

Neve scrambled and broke away for a 62-yard scoring run on the Lions’ next possession. Neve hit Everett McWhorter with the two-yard pass to put the Lions ahead 16-0.

Later in the first half, Brooks Neece capped a drive with a one-yard run, and Neve completed the two-point pass to Christian Morales to post a 24-0 lead.

Bailey scored again later in the game on a 22-yard run, which was followed by a two-point run by Neece to bump the lead to 32-0.

The final tally came on a 49-yard run by Morales, with McWhorter taking in the two-pointer.

“I was very pleased with our offense,” coach David Fairchild said, “I thought we threw and caught the ball well.”

The coach commended receptions by Luke Ivy, Fairchild, Morales, and McWhorter, along with Neve’s passing.

“We also had good protection up front by Bryce Asher, Ty Everitt, Monte Cauble, Bryson Davis, Ryan Mark, and Riley Green.”

The coach also praised the efforts of the defense.

“Cooper had an interception and several big tackles,” he said.

Other big defensive plays were made by Neece, Devan Henson, Asher, McWhorter, and Taren Farmer.
