Albany picked up a game against Eastland last week, bringing home an exciting last-second win over the Mavericks.

“After being down 13-0 at the half, we made adjustments for the second half,” coach David Fair-child said.

Keatin Russell opened the scoring for the Lions, catching a touchdown pass from quarterback Lute Wheeler. The two-point attempt failed.

With just 13 seconds remaining in the game, Wheeler connected with Adam Hill on a 70-yard pass play for the tally.

Still down 13-12, the -Lions opted for the two-point run as Hill again got the call for the three-yard play to win the game with only two seconds remaining.

The coach commended offensive backs Samuel Rosas, Cade Price, Hill, and Wheeler for running well.

“The offensive line also had a great night, including Zane Waggoner, Tye Edgar, Coy Knight, Cole Read, and Koy Cauble,” Fairchild said.

Defensively, the coach named Lanxton Viertel, Waggoner, London Fuentes, Russell, and Price.

“London and Caden each had an interception, and Keatin had a fumble recovery,” he said. “The Lions showed a lot of heart in the second half by responding to a 13-0 deficit at the half to win the game.”
