JV ends season with 10-0 record
By Donnie A. Lucas
The JV Lions finished the football season undefeated with a perfect 10-0 record after shutting out Hamlin last Thursday, 36-0.
Samuel Rosas opened the scoring for the Lions with a 20-yard touchdown run, followed by the two-point run by Caden Price.
London Fuentes capped the next series with a five-yard touchdown reception from Cole Chapman. Barrett Beal caught the two-point pass from Chapman to give the Lions a 16-0 lead.
In the second quarter, Keatin Russell picked off a Hamlin pass and returned it 60 yards for a touchdown to put the Lions up 22-0. The two-point attempt failed.
Beal recovered a kickoff fumble, and Chapman threw a 36-yard pass to Beal for the score.
Price got the call for the final tally on a three-yard run, followed by Rosas carrying in the two-pointer to end the scoring at 36-0.
“We moved the ball pretty much at will,” coach David Fairchild said. “Rosas, Chapman, and Price all had good runs, and our offensive line did a great job.”
He named Rosas, Ty Everitt, Coy Knight, Bryce Asher, and Koy Cauble as standouts on the line.
The coach was also pleased with the defense.
