The JV Lions edged out the Hawley Bearcats last Thursday, 16-14, to remain undefeated for the year with a 4-0 record.

The JV will host Clyde’s JV this Thursday (today) at 6:30 p.m. in Robert Nail Stadium.

The Lions’ first tally against Hawley last week came on a 16-yard run by Cole Chapman. Chapman hit Barrett Beal with the two-point pass.

The Lions’ second score came late in the fourth quarter after being down 14-8 with less than three minutes left on the clock.

Albany put together a scoring drive capped by a nine-yard pass from Chapman to Beal to knot the score at 14-14.

The Lions won the bout on a two-point pass from Chapman to London Fuentes for the win.

“Offensively, we moved the ball well, but there were several key turnovers that stalled drives,” coach David Fairchild said.

The coach said that the JV Lions didn’t have their best game.

“Our defense stepped up on the final Hawley drive to close the game with the win,” Fairchild said. “London Fuentes had an interception during the game, too.”
