The JV baseball team opened the season Monday with 6-4 win over Graford.

The season continues this week with Albany hosting a JV tournament Thursday through Saturday.

The Lions will play at 11:45 a.m. Thursday and Friday, as well as having a 1:30 p.m. game Friday. The action will continue with a 10:45 a.m. Saturday game.

“This was our first outing of the season and only our third time on a field, and it showed in some -areas,” coach David Fairchild said. “Offensively, Luke Ivy had a good day with two singles, and Cade Neve, Max Balliew, and William Webb each had a single.”

The coach said the Lions had trouble at the plate, striking out 13 times.

“I was pleased with our pitching,” he said. “I limited them to 30 counts, so we went through quite a few.”

Pitching were Neve, Cooper Fairchild, Balliew, Christian Morales, Ivy and Colby Hargett.

“Balliew had two really good short innings that kept his pitch count down,” the coach said.

The Lions aren’t fielding a varsity team until the basketball playoffs end.
