GIRLS
Red Team
The Lady Cubs used defense to overcome a slow start with a big second quarter. Down 4-1 in the first quarter, Albany stormed back to take a 13-5 halftime lead.
“The defense was so fun to watch in this game, especially when we would go into man,” coach Jamie Wilson said. “Charlee Hefner had a ton of steals throughout the game, which led to a bunch of fast breaks and scores. With the help of Zayne Lefevre, these two led us to a victory.”
Lefevre scored eight points, six coming in the second quarter. Hefner finished with seven. Tatum Grady added five points, and Hattie Braly scored two.
White Team
The Lady Cubs stayed close the entire game, but couldn’t overcome a three-point deficit in the fourth quarter.
Anson led 7-6 after one quarter and 10-8 at halftime. The Lady Tigers took a 16-13 edge into the fourth quarter.
“Our defense was better this game and is improving overall,” coach M.J. Reneau said. “I’m very proud of the girls and their efforts this week; we just came up a little short.”
Charli Trail led Albany with a game-high nine points. Brooke Richards, Finlee Brown, and Leah Glick scored two apiece.
