TheAlbanyJuniorHigh Cubs and Lady Cubs basketball teams wrapped up the fall portion of their schedules Monday, Dec. 12 withgamesagainstAnson. The girls teams played at home for the first time since Nov. 13 with the boys on the road after three in a row at home.

The teams are now off through the Christmas break, returning to action Monday, Jan. 11 with games against Cisco.

BOYS Eighth Grade

At Anson, the eighth grade Cubs pulled away in the second half for a 40-19 win.

Albany took a 9-6 lead in the first quarter and led 20-13 at half. The Cubs then outscoredAnson 20-6 in the second half.

Albany enjoyed balanced scoring with Clay Chapmangetting12points while Bennett Neece and Jakobi Roberson each scored 10. Aiden Vickers added eight points.

Seventh Grade

All nine Albany players scored as the seventh grade Cubs rolled to a 53-11 win.

The Cubs jumped out to a 15-4 lead in the first quarter and continued to extend the lead the rest of the way.

Lyle Wheeler scored 16 points to lead Albany, with Blake Britting and Jathan Perez each adding nine.BenRussellscoredsix points, Ace Townson had four,withLeviMurphyand Henry Wright each getting three, Bentley Boyett two, and Sam Tidwell one.

GIRLS Eighth Grade

The eighth grade Lady Cubs ended 2023 with a 33-18 loss to Anson.

Albany fell behind 10-6 in the first quarter and the deficit continued to grow.

Finlee Brown led Albany with eight points with Charlie Trail adding four. Tara Cauble and Mackenzee Roysdon each scored two points with Cayla Green and Kamryn Graham each scoring one.

Seventh Grade

TheseventhgradeLady Cubs took the early lead and outscored Anson in every quarter to win 23-13.

Albany opened with a 6-2 lead in the first quarter and increased it by two points in each of the next three.

Tinley Hefner and KeeleyBrittingeachscored eight points to lead the Lady Cubs. Hailey Gleitz addedfourpointsandAvery Gleitz scored three.
