The Albany junior high volleyball and football teams opened their seasons this week against opponents from Woodson and Dublin.

The Lady Cubs volleyball teams traveled Tuesday to Woodson for seventh and eighth grade matches as part of a quadruple-header that included junior varsity.

Albany is scheduled to play at Moran next Tuesday.

The Cubs’ football teams open their schedules tonight (Thursday) at home against Dublin.

Varsity head coach Denney Faith said the junior high games would have a slightly different structure compared to high school competition.

“We’re going to try to do our seventh grade game similar to a scrimmage with our coaches on the field,” Faith said. “The eighth grade may have coaches on the field, but it will be a little more like a game situation since those guys have a year under their belts.”

The Cubs will also be at home next Thursday against Haskell. The seventh grade game will start at 4:00 p.m. with the eighth grade to follow.
