Jr. high girls split games

The junior high volleyball teams played a couple of games last week and traveled to Colorado City on Monday.

Both eighth grade squads will play at Moran on Tuesday, Oct. 22 starting at 4:00 p.m. The seventh grade girls will travel to Woodson for one game at 5:00 p.m. that same day.

Last Week’s Matches

The eighth grade girls won a match in Strawn last Tuesday, 25-10, 25-17.

“There was a lot of teamwork in this win,” coach Jamie Wilson said. “I thought they did a great job on defense being scrappy.”

The 7A girls went to Newcastle Oct. 8, dropping the bout 13-25, 11-25.

Leading in serves were Abi Grace Hale 4, Caroline Holson 3, Jalea Bowman 2, Ann Davis 2, Kenzie Neve 1, Avery Everitt 1, and Averie Burns 1.

“The girls improved their serving against Newcastle,” coach Ginger Norton said. “They continue to get better each week.”

The seventh grade also traveled to Colorado City on Monday, bringing back a 18-25, 17-25 loss. 

Leading in serves were Hale 5, Holson 4, Bowman 4, Gabby Lopez 3, and Davis 2.

“The girls improved their serving game,” Norton said. “The score was close throughout both games.”

The 8A team won in Colorado City on Monday, 21-25, 25-22, 15-7.

“They lost the first set and came back hard to win the next two,” coach Dakota Fowler said.

Scoring on consecutive serves were Callan Edgar 6; Robin Lucas 5 serves, 3 kills; Braylyn Abbate 3 serves, 1 kill; Ashlyn Holson 7 serves, 2 acres; Kiana Roberson 5 serves, 7 kills.

The 8B team also won their bout in Colorado City 23-25, 25-16, 15-5.

“The girls came out to play, playing hard and never giving up,” Fowler said. “I am really proud of them.”

Scoring on consecutive serves were Kaedyn Nowell 4, Ashley Sanchez 5, CheyAnne Weaver 3, Emily Schedule 5, Cambree Clegg 3, Sidney Russell 13.
