Both junior high volleyball teams picked up a pair of victories over the last week.

The seventh grade girls will travel to Hico on Monday, Sept. 21 for a game at 5:00 p.m. The eighth grade girls will play in Rising Star next Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 5:00 p.m.

The eighth grade team hosted Moran last Tuesday, Sept. 8, earning a 25-9, 25-5 win.

“I saw a big improvement from the  first game to this one,” coach Dakota Fowler. “The girls played great together.”

Makenna McNeill served 13 points in a row with five aces, and Averie Burns served 16 in a row with four aces.

The eighth grade also won at Abilene Christian Middle School on Monday in three sets, 25-22, 13-25, 25-20.

The seventh grade girls also won last week at ACMS, 25-17, 25-12.

“Mimi Ivy, Braylee Clark, Avarie Myrick, Kais-ley Bartee, and Alli McDaniel all had outstanding serves and improved in each set of the game,” coach Ginger Norton said.

The seventh graders had a rematch this week, beating ACMS 25-11, 25-11.

“Mimi Ivy led in serves with 26, followed by Alli McDaniel with eight, Braylee Clark with five, and Brook Green with one,” Norton said. “The team serves are improving with each game, and the girls’ passing and setting are coming along too.”
