The Albany Junior High Lady Cubs volleyball teams got in two matches during the last week, getting caught up after the Labor Day holiday.

The Lady Cubs’ White and Red teams continue the busy pace, competing in the Hawley tournament on Saturday, Sept. 16, before visiting Ranger on Tuesday, Sept. 19.

On Thursday, Sept. 7, Albany played three matches at Bangs.

The Silver team won 25-22, 25-23.

“Charlee Patterson was our most consistent server,” coach Lauren Peacock said. “These girls played hard and did a great job as a team.”

The White team won 25-15, 23-25, 15-13.

“Kamryn Graham stepped back at the serving line during a couple different turning points and sealed the game for us,” Peacock said. “Haiden Niell and Maddie Stapp did a great job on and off the net.”

The Red team lost 9-25, 17-25.

“We’re getting better every game, and this team is younger than most ‘A’ teams, so we’re just focusing on progress and playing with confidence,” Peacock said. “I’m super proud of my two eighth graders, Charli Trail and Finlee Brown, for stepping up and leading this group.”

On Monday, Sept. 11, the Lady Cubs visited Coleman. The Silver won 25-16, 25-22, the White lost 20-25, 14-25, and the Red lost 9-25, 18-25.

“Overall, the girls are getting the hang of the rotations and positions, which will help us in the long run,” Peacock said. “I thought our serving was better; we just need to keep playing and improving each week. Our tournament this weekend will be really good for us.”
