Jr. high finishes track season

The seventh grade boys track teams captured the district championship last Saturday in Roscoe, with the eighth grade boys finishing in second. The two girls teams both took third place.

“The boys capped the season with some of their best performances of the year,” boys coach Ryder Peacock said. “Overall, I was very proud of their efforts. The seventh grade came out of nowhere to win the meet, and the eighth grade mile relay ran an impressive race under four minutes for second place.”

The seventh grade boys scored 128 points for first, followed by the eighth grade boys with 139 for second in their division. 

The seventh grade girls took third with 92 points, while the eighth graders scored 97 points for third.

“I was pleased with the girls’ efforts,” seventh grade coach Kimberly Hill said. “We had been sitting at fifth after the 200 meter, but the girls garnered enough points in the final events to claim third.”

Eighth grade girls coach Ginger Norton said that her team accomplished their goal of placing in the top three teams.

“They all improved their times, jumps, and throws,” she said. “It was a great track season for the eighth graders.”
