Jr. high district meet moved to April 6

All four junior high track teams competed in the local junior high meet on March 25, with the eighth grade boys placing fourth with 68 points to lead the Albany contingent.

The seventh grade boys placed fifth with 38 points, while the eighth grade Lady Cubs were sixth with 47 points. The seventh grade girls finished seventh with 38 points.

The Cubs and Lady Cubs will travel to Roscoe on Saturday for the district track meet. Field events start at 9:00 a.m., with the running events beginning at 1:00 p.m. or one hour after the field event portion of the meet.

“This was a great tune-up before district,” seventh grade girls coach Kimberly Hill said. “I was pleased with the effort the girls gave at the local meet.”

Eighth grade girls coach Ginger Norton also said her team competed well against mostly 3A schools.

“We knocked more time off of our sprint and mile relays, and we are stronger in our field events,” she said. “We’ll be ready Saturday.”
