Jr. high athletes place at Cisco

The Albany Junior High track teams competed in their second meet of the season Friday, March 10, at the Junior High Lobo Relays at Cisco.

The teams return to action Friday, March 24, when they host the Albany junior high meet.

At Cisco, Albany athletes won eight events. The seventh grade boys posted the top team finish, placing third, while the eighth grade girls were fourth and the eighth grade boys tied for fourth. The seventh grade girls placed fifth.

For the eighth grade boys, Jack Nail won the 100 and the long jump, as well as running a leg on the winning 800 relay with Wesley Gleitz, Sam Vickers, and Michael Hernandez.

Gleitz was second in the shot put, while Britton Farmer was second in the triple jump. Zane Green was third in the shot and fifth in the 100. In the pole vault, Hernandez was fifth with Braxton Henry sixth. Connor Smith was sixth in the triple jump, and Judson Rogers was sixth in the 800.

The 400 relay of Green, Hernandez, Gleitz, and Farmer placed fourth, while the 1600 relay of Gleitz, Hernandez, Nail, and Farmer was third.

For the eighth grade girls, Zayne Lefevre won the 100 and long jump, while Ashlyn Miller won the 400 and was second in the high jump. Brooke Richards was third in the 100 and fifth in the long jump, while J’Cee Keen was fifth in the discus.

The 400 relay of Le­fevre, Richards, Miller, and Charlee Hefner finished third. The same foursome placed fourth in the 1600 relay.

For the seventh grade boys, Clay Chapman won the long jump and tied teammate Jakobi Roberson for first in the high jump. Roberson was third in the long jump. Albany went 1-2 in the pole vault with Aiden Vickers winning over Rush Kidd.

Graham Ceder scored points in three individual events, taking second in the discus, fourth in the 800 and sixth in the 1600. Bennett Neece was second in the 100 and Kidd was sixth in the 400.

The quartet of Roberson, Chapman, Aiden Vickers, and Neece placed third in both the 400 relay and 800 relay. Roberson, Kidd, Chapman, and Vickers finished second in the 1600 relay.

Fort the seventh grade girls, the 400 relay of Finlee Brown, Tara Cauble, Cayla Green, and Madeline Stapp finished fourth.
