Two Albany volleyball players have been named to the 2A All-State team by the Texas Girls Coaches Association.

Senior Alli Hill and junior Sarah Beth Cotter were both selected to the top honor following the Lady Lions’ successful season that saw the local team advance to the state semi-final for only the second time in program history.

“Alli is so versatile and can play at any position on the court,” head volleyball coach M.J. Reneau said. “She was a huge part of our success this year, earning the District MVP award.”

The Lady Lions lost to Crawford in the state semi-final, compiling a season record of 23-5, including a 3-1 finish in district to advance as co-champions for District 6-2A along with Hawley.

Cotter also contributed in a variety of ways to the success of the season, according to Reneau.

“Sarah Beth led our team in kills and hitting percentage, also earning the District Co-Offensive MVP,” the coach said. “She works hard, leads by example, and is a very consistent player.”

The coach said that both state awards were very well deserved.

Hill is the daughter of Kevin and Kimberly Hill, and Cotter is the daughter of Mike and Darla Cotter, all of Albany.
