Both gyms at the high school will be closed for several days starting Friday, July 13 so that the wood floors can be refinished.

The facilities will be closed to the public during the annual maintenance project, with everyone asked to please not enter either building.

Both gyms will reopen on Thursday, July 19.

“The contractor says it is very important that everyone stay off the floors to allow proper drying time,” superintendent Shane Fields said.

The wooden floors will be sanded and revarnished starting Friday, and then allowed to dry through next Wednesday.

The doors to both buildings should be locked when the contractor is not present, and the public is urged to observe the signs on the doors forbidding entrance.

“This is part of the regular maintenance we do in the summer and over the Christmas holiday to keep the floors in good condition,” Fields said. “The humidity is a little higher this year, so it is even more important to stay off the floors until they are completely dry.”
