Three Albany High School golfers played in the seventh annual Tommy Terrell Invitational Golf Tournament here at the Albany Golf Course on Monday, March 18, with several other area schools bringing teams and medalists for the event.

Alayna Koemel shot a personal best 119 on Monday, placing fifth overall.

In the boys division, Cooper Fairchild shot a 109 on 18 holes, and Taren Farmer posted a score of 152.

“It was a good tournament for some of our beginners,” said golf coach Tate Thompson. “We spent lots of time just learning how to do the little things so that it will go smoother when we start district next week.”

The local golfers have not had as much time on the greens as usual because of weather cancellations and conflicts.

They will be competing in the first round of district on Monday, March 25 at Maxwell Municipal Golf Course in Abilene, according to Thompson.

The second round on Monday, April 1 will also be held at Maxwell.
