A four-member team of underclassmen, including three freshmen and one sophomore, finished in the top half of all Region 2 golf teams, finishing eighth out of 16 teams at the regional golf tournament held last Wednesday and Thursday in Ferris.

London Fuentes, Ayden Balliew, Houston Heatly, and Lute Wheeler recorded a two-day total of 743.

“It’s exciting to have three freshmen and one sophomore be able to finish in the top half of the regional teams,” said golf coach Tate Thompson. “It was a great experience for these young golfers, and they were able to see what it’s going to take to get to state in the future.”

The Albany golfers won the district tournament by 71 strokes earlier in the month, putting together a two-day of 721.

Complete results from the regional tournament are as follows:

Houston Heatly 90/87, Lute Wheeler 93/87, Ayden Balliew 93/95, London Fuentes 96/102. Team score 372/371.
