The foursome of James Waters, Randy Walker, Rodney Barton, and Charles Barrett took a one-stroke victory in the 9th annual Albany Masonic Lodge Scholarship Golf Tournament Oct. 23, shooting a 12-under round of 59 in a competitive field of 32 players at the Albany Golf Course.

The four-person scramble benefits the Albany Masonic Wisdom Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, which awards college scholarships to Albany High School graduates each year.

Mason Randall Palmore said the event easily met its fundraising goal.

“Our records indicate that we’ve given over $25,000 to Albany seniors,” Palmore said.

“Our current goal is four $1,000 scholarships,” Palmore said, “and we’re going to be able to do that.”

Ronnie Kitchens, Steven Williamson, Akisha Holson, and Tommy Tierney shot 60 to tie with a team of  McMurry University golfers.

Third place also saw a tie with the foursome of Charles Holson, Ron Cook, Jeff Balliew, and Tristan Cauble shooting 61 to match Palmore, Nate Schutz, Tom Crist, and Shea Guinn.

Akisha Holson won both the long drive and closest-to-the-pin contests.

“I want to be sure and thank everyone for helping us make this tournament a success,” Palmore said.
