One Lady Lion took an MVP award and six others were named to other District 8-2A positions recently by the district’s basketball coaches.

Junior Jaleigh Morales was picked as the district’s co-Defensive MVP, along with Sadie McCambridge of Roscoe.

Albany coach Tate Thompson was also tapped as the district’s Coach of the Year.

The Lady Lions finished second in the district race behind Haskell with an overall record of 21-10, which includes a bi-district playoff win and a loss at the area round. The Lady Lions were the lone team in the district to hand Haskell a loss.

“I feel that we were well represented,” the coach said. “These girls have worked so hard to accomplish what they did this season, and they deserve everything they received.”

Receiving first team honors were sophomores Alli Hill and Elia Hebel, while second team selections were given to senior Jillian Guinn and sophomore Torie Fuentes.

Albany also had two honorable mentions given to junior Carley Green and sophomore Cydney Nelson.
