The Albany Lady Lions got plenty of court time after their return from the Thanksgiving break, playing at Ballinger on Tuesday, Nov. 30, before spending the weekend at the Breckenridge tournament.

The Lady Lions went 2-3 at the tournament, beating Class 4A Springtown and Moran. Kiana Roberson was named to the all-tournament team after averaging 10.2 points per game for the weekend.

Lady Lions coach Tate Thompson said the tournament was a good experience for the team.

“We need to be running up and down the court and playing, and we were able to do that at this tournament,” he said. “We saw lots of different teams and lots of different situations.”

The Lady Lions (2-6) hosted Richland Springs Tuesday in their final outing before the start of district play, losing 42-23. Details will be reported next week.

They picked up a game at Gordon this Friday, Dec. 10, with tip-off at 5:00 p.m.

At Ballinger last week, the Lady Lions lost 44-19 just eight days after opening their season with a loss to the same team.

Ballinger outscored Albany 18-7 in the first quarter and was ahead 28-14 at halftime.

Avery Kleiner led the Lady Lions with eight points. Roberson added six, Briley Tabor three, and Lizzie Chavez two.
