The Albany Lady Lions concluded their basketball season Tuesday, Feb. 7, with 43-25 home loss to playoff qualifier Anson.

Albany finished the season 8-21 overall and 1-11 in District 10-2A. The Lady Lions increased their win total from a year ago by five and won a district road game for the first time since the 2020-21 season.

In other 10-2A action, Stamford defeated Cisco 58-52 on Friday, Feb. 10, in a game to determine the district’s No. 1 playoff seed.

Bi-district games held earlier this week had Stamford facing Petrolia, Cisco meeting Seymour, Anson playing Windthorst, and Haskell taking on Nocona. The all-district team will be released once all four 10-2A teams have completed their seasons.

Against Anson, the Lady Lions were able to control the pace during a close first half. Albany led 7-6 after one quarter before falling behind 13-10 at halftime.

Anson pulled away with a 14-7 edge in the third quarter and added to the margin in the fourth.

Briley Tabor, the Lady Lions’ lone senior, was honored before the game during senior night activities. Tabor finished her high school career by leading the Lady Lions with 11 points.

Kiana Roberson, who was held to one field goal  as Anson focused its defensive effort inside, added eight points.
