A lucky basketball fan will have the chance to earn some money on Friday, Feb. 2 during halftime of the varsity boys game against Stamford.

Albany’s School Health Advisory Council is conducting a free throw contest as a fundraiser, with the winner getting three chances at sinking the ball for a share of the pot.

Tickets will be sold for $1.00 each, with the winner drawn at the start of halftime. The winning ticket holder will have up to three chances to make a goal from predetermined places on the court.

The first shot will be from the block for a 20 percent share of the pot. If the first shot is made, the winner then moves to the free throw line for a second shotanda30percentshare of the total collected.

If the first two shots are successful, the winner will move to the three-point line for a chance at 50 percent of the total collected.

Proceedsfromthedrawing will be used to fund a new garden project at Nancy Smith Elementary.

The garden will be located behind the library building, with plants going in the ground sometime around spring break, according to school nurse Heather Nitschke.
