Five Lady Lions receive District 10-2A honors
Five Albany Lady Lions earned District 10-2A basketball honors following the 2025-2026 season, and head coach Ashlyn Bevel was named the district’s Coach of the Year.
Junior Zayne Lefevre and freshman Keeley Britting were selected to the District 10-2A first team. Named to the second team were senior Madi Parrott, junior Ashlyn Miller and freshman Tinley Hefner.
The Lady Lions finished district play with a 5-7 record, competing against Anson, Hawley, TCLA, Cisco and Haskell. Albany fielded a young roster with only one senior and a lineup primarily made up of freshmen and sophomores.
Bevel said the team showed consistent growth throughout the season while facing strong competition.
“Our season wrapped up a few weeks ago, and I’ve just been reflecting on how proud I am of this group,” she said. “From the very first practice to our last game, this team showed so much growth, toughness and heart. We played some strong competition, faced challenges along the way and just kept getting better each week. That steady improvement says a lot about who they are.”
Bevel added that the season was about more than wins and losses for the young team.
“This season was about the way the girls played for each other, the leadership that stepped up, the unselfish moments and the way they supported one another on and off the court,” she said. “Watching their confidence grow and their love for the game shine has been the most rewarding part.”
Bevel said she is proud of the team and grateful for the season, adding that the future looks bright for the Lady Lions and she is already looking forward to what comes next.
Earning Academic All-District honors were Charli Trail, Charley Flowers, Tatum Grady, Britting, Lefevre, Miller, and Parrott.
