Albany High School athlete Wesley Estridge continues to have an exceptional season at area powerlifiting meets, improving his state ranking after posting a personal best last week.

Estridge traveled to Snyder Jan. 28 to compete in his third powerlifting event of the year, bringing home two gold medals.

The Albany senior won first place in his Super Heavy Weight (SHW) division and was named “Outstanding Lifter.”

Estridge first attempted to squat 650 pounds and dropped it, hurting his neck. The senior went on to squat 775 pounds, bench 405 pounds, and dead-lift 500 pounds for a total of 1,680 pounds and a personal best in all three lifts.

His total weight increased by 145 pounds, up from 1,535 last week.

Estridge is currently ranked first in the district, first in region 6, and second in the state.
