Dyer hits walk-off homer in McM win

For the second time in three years, Albany’s Joshua Dyer made his first home run of the season a big one.

The blast came Saturday, March 2 in Dyer’s first appearance of the season.

Dyer, a 2019 Albany graduate, lifted the Mc-Murry War Hawks to a series-clinching victory when he connected with one out in the bottom of the 11th inning for an 8-7 walk-off win against Texas-Dallas at Walt Driggers Field.

McMurry (6-7 overall) bounced back from a 7-1 loss in the series opener on Friday, March 1 to sweep Saturday’s doubleheader, winning 5-0 in the early game.

Dyer, in the lineup at designated hitter, went 3 for 6 in the deciding game.

In 2022, Dyer’s first season with the War Hawks, Dyer connected for his first college grand slam on Feb. 28 against University of the Ozarks. He finished the season with seven homers and added three last season.
