Downtown pep rally, send-off set

Albany fans are invited to join in several of the activities planned by the Albany Athletic Booster Club to help motivate the Lions to be at the top of their game for Friday’s playoff bout with the Santo Wildcats at Newton Field in Graham. 

Kickoff for the area game is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on the afternoon of Friday, Nov. 23.

Thursday Activities

Students and fans will gather at Bank Park for a community pep rally Thursday evening Nov. 22, starting at 7:30 p.m. 

After the pep rally, the cheerleaders will start of the traditional all-night beating of the playoff drum. 

Volunteers will continue beating the spirit drum on Thursday evening, through the night and until send-off time on Friday. 

Friday Events

There is a team breakfast at the Feed Store at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, sponsored by the junior mothers.

The traditional “send-off” of the football team is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday morning. Fans are asked to gather in the Albany downtown area, near Bank Park, for the send-off.

Tickets to the area playoff game will be available at the gate at a cost of $5 for all ages. Passes will be accepted.

Albany will sit on the home side of the 5,300 seat stadium, which is located at 1100 Calaveras Street in Graham.
