The Albany Lady Lions split a pair of home games last week, beating Abilene TLCA and falling to Clyde, in their final outings before the start of district play.

The Lady Lions opened their District 10-2A schedule Tuesday, Dec. 13, with a 71-27 loss to Cisco. Details will be reported next week.

Albany makes its second district outing at 5:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16 at Hawley.

The third district game, which will be the final one before the holiday break, is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20 at home against Haskell.

The Lady Lions return from the mandatory five-day dead period Wednesday-Friday, Dec. 28-30, at the May tournament, then resume district competition Tuesday, Jan. 3 at Hamlin.

Albany won for the fifth time in seven games on Tuesday, Dec. 6, beating Abilene TLCA 50-17.

Kiana Roberson scored 14 of her game-high 22 points in the first half as the Lady Lions built a 33-11 halftime lead.

Caroline Chapman added 10 points, making two of the team’s three 3-pointers, as eight Albany players scored.

The Lady Lions’ run of success hit a bump Friday, Dec. 9 with a 48-24 loss to Clyde. Albany was again plagued by a slow start, trailing 8-3 after one quarter and 21-5 at halftime.

Roberson finished with seven points to lead Al­bany. Briley Tabor, who spent most of the first half on the bench with three fouls, scored all six of her points in the fourth quarter.

After Clyde closed the first half with a 6-0 run, Roberson and Chapman each hit a 3-pointer early in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 10 points at 21-11. Clyde regrouped to outscore Albany 10-5 the rest of the quarter.
