The Albany Cubs won all three games against the visiting Hawley junior high teams on Monday.

The Cubs will travel to Roscoe on Monday, Dec. 16 for the last set of games before the holiday break. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.

The boys will return to the court on Jan. 9 in Cross Plains.

The 8A team beat Hawley 41-24 on Monday.

“This was a good win for us,” coach David Fairchild said. “We still have some things we have to shore up, but the boys showed a lot of hustle.”

Scoring were Cole Read 3, Lute Wheeler 4, Adam Hill 14, Zane Waggoner 11, Bryson Herring 2, and Lanxton Viertel 7.

The 8A Cubs are still undefeated with a 4-0 record.

The 7A Cubs also handed Hawley a loss, 20-12.

“It was good to win the game, but our focus is for the young guys to win the correct way by executing our offense and learning situational basketball,” coach Jimmy Fuentes said. “Often they want to deviate from the execution and rely solely on skill, which is what we are trying to correct.”

Scoring were Ashton Bailey 6, Jace Little 2, Branson Beal 5, Landon Balliew 5, and Hagen Miller 2.

The combined B team also picked up a win, beating Hawley 23-9.

“Our guys played well for the second week in a row,” Fuentes said. “Their fundamentals have improved over the course of these two games as well as their understanding of what we try to do offensively and defensively. That is where our concentration lies right now.”

Scoring for Albany were Brayden Watson 12, J.J. Clark 7, and Cooper Edgar 4.
