A combined seventh and eighth grade Cub football team traveled to Ranger last Thursday, picking up a 34-0 win.

The two junior high teams will combine again this week to play Santo on Friday at Robert Nail Stadium. Kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m.

The Cubs opened the scoring against Ranger last week with a 40-yard punt return by Ashton Bailey for a touchdown. The two-point attempt failed.

The second tally came on a 45-yard run by Dalton Richards, followed by a two-point pass from Branson Beal to Calhan Fairchild to bump the lead to 14-0.

The next score came on a 27-yard run by Beal on a keeper for the score. The conversion failed.

Lane Helle scored on a 30-yard run, but the conversion failed, leaving the Cubs with a 26-0 lead.

Ethan Green scored the final touchdown on 31-yard run, with a two-point pass from Brody Oliver to Mason McCloy for the 34-0 win.

“The guys played well on defense,” coach David Fairchild said. “Brody Oliver and Breylon Billington had a fumble recovery, with Woods Peterson causing a fumble. Overall, it was a good game.”
