The combined seventh and eighth grade Cubs hosted their final home game last week, sending Santo’s junior high home with a 33-6 loss.

The Cubs will combine again this week for the last game of the season in Cross Plains. Kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

The Cubs scored early with a 45-yard run by Ashton Bailey, who then kicked the PAT to put Albany ahead 7-0.

Branson Beal scored next on a 24-yard keeper for a touchdown, followed by another kick by Bailey for a 14-0 lead.

A Santo ball carrier broke loose with a return on the ensuing kickoff, carrying the ball to the Albany three-yard line where Dalton Richards stopped the return and saved a Santo score. The Cubs held the Wildcats out of the end zone to thwart the scoring attempt.

Richards scored next for the Cubs on a 35-yard pass play from Beal. The PAT attempt failed.

Bailey recovered his own kickoff on a “high pooch kick” to set up the next tally. Beal scored on a 23-yard carry, followed by Bailey’s PAT to put the score at 27-6.

The final score of the game came on a pass from Beal to Andre Gjerpe who went 87 yards for the touchdown. The PAT attempt failed, leaving the final score at 33-6.
