The Albany Cubs traveled to Roscoe due to a soaked field at Robert Nail Stadium, bringing back a pair of wins from the road trip.

The junior high teams will be on the road again this Thursday (today) for games starting at 4:00 p.m. The JV is scheduled to follow the two junior high games at 6:30 p.m. if Cross Plains still has enough players to field a team. The JV Buffaloes were down to just 12 players last week.

The eighth grade Cubs picked up a 22-8 win over Roscoe last week.

“After a week of rough weather and limited field time for practice, the guys did a great job of hitting the field and coming up with another stellar performance,” coach Richard Sullivan said.

Caden Price scored the first tally on a nine-yard run, followed by a two-point pass from London Fuentes to Price to give the Cubs an 8-0 lead.

Later in the game, Fuentes connected on a 25-yard scoring pass with Isaiah Carrillo. The two-pointer was scored on a pass from Price to Fuentes.

Samuel Rosas punched in a three-yard run for the third touchdown. The conversion attempt failed.

The Cubs gave up one score late in the game.

The seventh grade Cubs won their bout, 12-0, in Roscoe.

Adam Hill scored the first touchdown on a 10-yard run, then raced 23 yards on fourth down to find the end zone a second time. The two-point plays failed.

Lute Wheeler sealed the win for the Cubs with an interception on Roscoe’s final drive.

“Anytime you play a team for the second time in the same season, it gets a little harder,” coach Ryder Peacock said. “Because of the weather conditions we had during the week, we didn’t get to work much on our passing game and Roscoe was able to load the box. We were able to get a few big completions to keep drives alive, which led to scoring opportunities.”
