The seventh and eighth grade Cub football team combined forces last week for the season finale in Cross Plans, bringing home a 33-0 win.

Ashton Bailey scored on the Cubs’ first offensive play, running the ball 55 yards for the touchdown. Bailey also kicked the PAT to put the Cubs ahead 7-0.

Dalton Richards scored next on a six-yard carry to take the lead to 13-0. The extra point attempt failed.

Quarterback Branson Beal scored on a 60-yard keeper, pushing the lead to 19-0. The PAT failed.

Bailey scored again on a 55-yard run, then kicked the PAT to give the Cubs a 27-0 lead at the half.

The lone score in the second half came on an interception by Beal, who returned the pick for a tally. The try for an extra point failed.

Andre Gjerpe and Bailey both had fumble recoveries in the game, while Beal and Jace Little each had an interception, according to coach David Fairchild.

“I feel that Landon Balliew and Laithe Leech both played well up front on defense, and linebackers Ethan Green and Andre Gjerpe played well too,” Fairchild said. “Jake Hale made several big plays for us on special teams.”
