Close to 90 play in golf tournament

Golfers entered in the annual Fathers Day tournament sponsored by the Albany Golf Club were able to get in two days of golf with good weather conditions.
A total of 84 players participated in the annual tourney.
“The tournament went really well,” organizer James Waters said. “We had a few teams cancel, but the numbers were still better than the last couple of years.”
He noted that the weather was windy but cooler than normal, making the event more enjoyable.
“Everything worked out great and everyone seemed to have a good time,” he said.
Teams of three were flighted based on first round scores from Saturday, finishing the second round on Sunday.
A pair of ties led the way in the championship flight, with the threesome of Vickers, Barton, and Walker shooting a two-day total of 117. The team of Rincon, Rincon, and Jones also turned in 117 stokes to tie for the top two places.
There was also a tie for third place between the team of Barton, Hughes, and Jones, along with Everett, Channer, and Holt. Both teams shot 122.
Action in the First Flight was also close, with teams again tying for position.
The team of Anderson, Anderson, and Moberley recorded 128 strokes for first, winning the playoff against the Gardner, Lenamon, and Lee group that ended up second with 128 strokes.
Third place also resulted in a tie with 129 strokes between Waters, Waters, and Holson, and Kitchens, Kitchens, and Williamson.
In the second flight, the team of Balliew, Balliew, and Reddin were first with a total score of 135.
Hargett, Hargett, and Hobbs won a playoff hole for second place against the team of Thomas, Thomas, and Long. Both teams shot 136.
In the consolation flight, which had a Sunday score only, the group of Daughtry, Sutton, and Snead finished with a one-round total of 68.
