Albany’s Jonathan Coody qualified for regional competition last week with his performance at the District 10-2A cross country meet at Anson.

Coody, a freshman, finished sixth out of 11 runners in the varsity boys race on Oct. 13. Coody covered three miles at Anson Golf Course in 20 minutes, 15 seconds.

Coody will compete in the Region II-2A meet on Tuesday, Oct. 26 at Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie.

Albany had six runners compete at district with two varsity girls and three junior high girls in addition to Coody.

“I was very proud of all of our runners,” Albany coach Tate Thompson said. “Every single runner improved on their times from the previous week at Anson, some up to two minutes better. Even though some of them didn’t achieve the results they wanted, we are trying to focus on the big picture of them improving their times.”

In the varsity girls’ race, which had 38 entries, Briley Tabor finished 14th with a time of 13:52 over two miles. Avery Kleiner ran a time of 15:47 to finish 31st.

In the junior high girls division, which ran 1.5 miles, Ashlyn Miller placed 18th in 11 minutes flat. Brooke Miller ran 12:53 to place 44th with Tatum Grady crossing the finish line in 12:54 to finish 45th.
