Future Albany Lions and Lady Lions athletes can learn the skills they will need down the road during a series of sports camps offered by local coaches.

The camps for students entering kindergarten through ninth grade for the 2022-23 school year began this week with the Albany Basketball Camp, held Wednesday-Thursday, June 1-2 at the Albany High School gym with instruction by Tate Thompson and Ryder Peacock.

The Albany Lions & Lady Lions All-Sports Camp will run Monday-Wednesday, June 6-8, offering instruction by David Fairchild and Peacock in baseball, football, and basketball.

The camp is designed to teach boys and girls basic skills in each sport. Campers will learn drills to improve agility, speed and hand-eye coordination along with focusing on techniques for throwing, dribbling, shooting, hitting, and catching.

Sessions will be 9:00-10:15 a.m. for kindergarten through third grade and 10:30-11:50 a.m. for fourth through ninth grades. Baseball and football sessions will be held in the Green Room with basketball in the gym.

Cost is $15 per day or $35 for the whole camp. Family rates cover two campers for $60 or three for $85.

Checks should be made payable to David Fairchild and mailed to him at 224 S. Jacobs St., Albany, Texas 76430.

For further information, contact Fairchild at 325-721-5232 or Peacock at 325-762-0253.

The Albany Volleyball Camp will be held later this summer, but dates have not been finalized at this time.
