Albany News

The Moran Bulldogs will begin regular season Friday, Sept. 7, at 7:30 p.m. in Rising Star, one week later than originally planned, after Benjamin was unable to field a team and had to cancel their Aug. 31 game.

Tomorrow’s game will be the first time new head coach Harley Ethridge will see his players in true game conditions.

“Scrimmages have been productive,” Ethridge said. “My main challenge is to find kids who have little experience and get them ready for varsity play. I am pleased with their eagerness and attitudes.”

The Wildcats dropped their season opener to Bronte last week 44-0, resulting in sixmanfootball.com favoring the Purple and Gold by 45 over Rising Star.

The Bulldogs will begin a three-week home stretch hosting Sidney on Sept. 14, Rotan on Sept. 21, and the Strawn JV on Sept. 28.

Admission prices at Bulldog Stadium are $5 for adults and $3 for students.

Jr. High Bulldogs

Moran’s junior high football team still has one more week before they begin their season at home, hosting Sidney in a 6:00 p.m. bout on Thursday, Sept. 13.

Rochelle travels to Moran for a 5:00 p.m. game on Thursday, Sept. 20, and Strawn will visit Bulldog Stadium on Thursday, Sept. 27.

The junior high and varsity teams will be on the road the first week of October traveling to Chillicothe, then play Three Way and Gustine to finish out pre-district.

Challenging Moran in District 6-1A, Division 2 are Blackwell, Loraine, and Trent.

Lady Bulldogs

The varsity volleyball team lost three sets in Lingleville to the 14-4 Cardinals, 7-25, 7-25, 14-25 on Tuesday, Aug. 28.

Moran hosted Knox City on Saturday, Sept. 1, but results from the girls’ match with the Houndettes were not available at press time.

The Lady Bulldogs begin district play this Saturday, Sept. 8, in Ranger at 10:00 a.m., before returning to their home court for sets with Strawn on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 6:00 p.m.

Admission to the Moran gym is $3 for adults and $2 for students.

Moran plays in the mixed 1A and 2A District 6 with fellow 1A teams from Newcastle, Ranger, Strawn, and Woodson. Albany and Hawley are the 2A schools in the district.

JH Lady Bulldogs

The junior high girls will begin their season at home with a 5:00 p.m. district game against Strawn Tuesday, Sept. 11.
