Three Moran Bulldog football players earned places on the 1-A Division 2 District 6 All-District first team, along with eight on the second team, and one honorable mention.

In addition to district awards, sophomore Arren Hawley was named the Class A Division II Region 2 First Team punter.

First Team All-District honors were awarded to senior Jonas Sotelo and sophomores Lyric Huskey and Hawley.

Sotelo was chosen to the First Team on both sides of the ball. He was selected as the utility back on offense and also as one of the two linebackers on the defense team.

Hawley was given the nod for punter on the district First Team.

Huskey is the special teams player on the All-District First Team.

Moran players earning spots on the Second Team All-District were senior Harley Schafer, juniors Corey Miller and Colby Bell, sophomores Braden Crow, Huskey, Hawley, and Trey Cox, and freshman Memphis McGough.

On the offensive Second Team are Bell as tight end, Cox as wide receiver, and Crow as quarterback. Also Schafer as spread center, Huskey as utility back, and Hawley as kicker.

Second Team defensive players include Schafer as lineman, Crow as linebacker, Miller as utility player, and McGough at safety.

Sophomore Zak Keith was given honorable mention.

“I’m extremely proud of these young men for being named to the All-District team,” said head coach John Hughes. “We had a successful year and will be returning a majority of the guys who made this list.”

The Bulldogs play six-man football in District 6 with Blackwell, Loraine, and Trent.

Blackwell, which placed first in the district and advanced to the state semi-finals, was given the majority of the top spots including Clint Lowry and Dale Means for Coach of the Year, Offensive MVP Michael Lowry, and Defensive MVP Joel Guia.
