Moran’s football playoff hopes took a hit last Friday with a 60-14 loss at Woodson.

Moran (1-5 overall, 1-1 District 9-1A Division II) fell behind 26-0 in the first quarter, but played closer over the next two. Woodson (3-3, 1-0) ended the game with two touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

“The whole difference was the first quarter,” Bulldogs coach John Hughes said. “They put 26 on us because we had four busted assignments they got touchdowns off of.”

Ellis Hise was 6 of 14 passing for 112 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.

Arren Hawley caught four passes for 99 yards and both touchdowns. He also rushed for 16 yards.

Hawley led the defense with nine total tackles. Connor Hail, Caleb York, and Hise each had six total tackles, while Keagan Kilcrease had three. York added a fumble recovery.

Moran will host Lueders-Avoca at 5:00 p.m. Saturday for homecoming. The Raiders (0-5, 0-1) were open last week after losing 66-20 at Throckmorton on Oct. 7 to open district.

“They’re a young team,  kind of in the same boat we are,” Hughes said of the Raiders. “It ought to be a pretty good game. I think we have a really good chance to beat them.”
