Albany News

The Bulldogs won by forfeit last Friday, when Three Way could not field a varsity team and had to cancel the football game.

A win is not expected to be as easy tomorrow, Oct. 19, when coach Harley Ethridge and his team travel to Gustine to take on the Tigers with the kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Sixmanfootball.com favors Gustine (3-3) by 11 over Moran (2-3) in the Bulldogs’ last non-district game of the year.

Moran begins District 6 play at home at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26 hosting Blackwell, followed by a road trip to Loraine on Nov. 2, and the final game of the regular season at home against Trent on Nov. 9.

The junior high Bulldogs lost a home game 6-51 to visiting Three Way last Thursday, Oct. 11.

The middle school’s football game for tonight (Thursday) has changed, and Moran will travel to Trent, to take on Trent in a 5:30 p.m. bout.

Volleyball

Moran volleyball teams faced several stiff teams recently, but pulled off a junior high win against Albany on Tuesday.

Both of Moran volleyball teams lost last Tuesday’s games at Newcastle.

The junior high took to the court at 5:00 p.m. and lost in two sets, 22-25, 7-25.

The Lady Bulldogs also fell in straight sets, 22-25, 22-25, 9-25.

The Hawley varsity team, leaders in District 6, beat Moran 18-25, 6-25, 4-25 in Hawley on Oct. 13.

The junior high Lady Bulldogs lost their Oct. 2 game with Ranger.

Moran hosted Albany on Tuesday, Oct. 16 to a junior high game at 5:00 p.m. and a varsity game at 6:00 p.m.

The junior high Lady Bulldogs beat the Lady Cubs in straight sets, 25-15, 25-18, while the high school team lost to Albany 22-25, 20-25, 15-25.

“The varsity played a very good game against Albany, but we were not able to pull out a win,” said coach Dakota Fowler. “Every single one of my players gave it their all the entire game, and I couldn’t be more proud of them!”

The varsity girls have a bye on Saturday, and then the final games of the regular season will take place in Bulldog gym on Tuesday, Oct. 23, when the Moran teams host Woodson.
