The Moran football season ended with a 57-12 win in Trent last Friday, Nov. 8.

“We went out on a good note,” said head coach John Hughes. “The guys have come a long way since the beginning of the season, and I am proud of them.”

The coach was pleased that seniors Jonas Sotelo and Harley Schafer finished with a victory.

“These two young men have been great leaders, and they both jumped on board with what I wanted to do with this team,” said Hughes. “They will both be missed next year, but there is a good group returning.”

Moran ended the season with a 5-5 record, while going 1-2 in district play in Hughes’ first year.

“The guys coming back will be bigger, faster, and stronger next year,” said Hughes. “I am extremely excited about the next couple of years with this group.”

Hughes thanked Matthew Hise, Phillip Huskey, and Rob Crow for all of their help over the course of the season.

Undefeated Blackwell (11-0, 3-0) advanced as the six-man District 6-1A champions and Loraine (6-4, 2-1) claimed the runner-up slot in the playoffs.
