Moran Homecoming is Friday, Oct. 2 at 7:30 p.m. against the Three Way Braves.

“With all the normal distractions of homecoming, the guys have been extra focused on the task at hand,” said Moran ISD athletic director John Hughes. “Friday will be a challenge against Three Way, but if the guys do their jobs, we should hopefully get into the win column.”

Last Friday, the Moran Bulldogs came up short in the end against Lingleville, losing in a high scoring game of 59 to 70.

Hughes said it seemed that neither team last Friday could really ever gain the momentum to take control.

The difference came at the end when Moran could not make a stop, according to Hughes.

“The game was a blast, and the guys played their hearts out,” Hughes reported “I am proud of them for that.”

Junior Lyric Huskey had 217 yards rushing and three touchdowns, and he returned a kickoff back 64 yards for another touchdown.

Huskey also had six tackles on defense.

Junior Zak Keith had two catches for 41 yards and a touchdown along with returning a kickoff 47 yards for another touchdown. He also four tackles on defense.

Junior Arren Hawley had 76 yards rushing with two touchdowns and 36 yards receiving with a touchdown.

Hawley had nine kickoffs for 132 yards, to go along with seven tackles on defense.

Senior Corey Miller threw two touchdown passes and also had seven tackles on defense.

The junior high Bulldogs lost at home last week against Lingleville.

This week’s game will be played in Three Way at 6:00 p.m.

Lady Bulldogs

Last Tuesday, Sept. 22, the junior high and varsity teams played Ranger, with the junior high winning in two sets 26-24 and 25-22.

The varsity lost to Ran-ger in three sets, 14-25, 19-25, and 16-25.

The varsity played Woodson on Saturday, and also lost in three sets, 27-29, 15-25, and 21-25.

MISD principal and coach Jo Hise said she is proud of how far each player has come in their ability to play volleyball.

“The team is becoming more comfortable with the rotation and being on the court,” Hise explained.

This is a bye week for the varsity girls with no game scheduled on Saturday, Oct. 3.
