Boys youth teams to play last games Saturday

The Albany Youth Basketball League played games on the road last Saturday, with the final day of double elimination bracket play tournaments to be held this Saturday for the boys’ teams. The girls’ teams will be unable to compete due to conflicts.

The fifth grade boys won both games against Jim Ned teams last weekend.

Albany beat the Jim Ned Blue 20-15. Scoring were Clay Chapman 15 and Aiden Vickers 5.

Albany also defeated Jim Ned Red 37-5. Scoring were Clay Chapman 19, Aiden Vickers 16, and Akunda Mugoya 2.

The sixth grade Albany boys split games last Saturday, beating Jim Ned Red 20-4. Scoring were Connor Smith 11, Colter Edgar 4, Levi New 3, and Zane Green 2.

The team lost their second game to Hawley on Saturday, but a score was not provided.

The sixth grade girls also split games this week, losing to Merkel 8-4 in their first game. Scoring were Maekayla Kersey 2 and Hattie Braly 2.

Albany won the second game against Eula 21-12. Scoring were Maekayla Kersey 6, Tatum Grady 2, and Zayne Lefevre 13.

The fifth grade girls lost their first game to Eula, 15-10. Scoring two points each were Carsyn Clegg, Annie Agee, Sarah Green, Kamryn Graham, and Charli Trail.

The girls won their second game against Jim Ned Red, 17-9.

Scoring were Charli Trail 10, Sarah Green 2, Finlee Brown 2, Kamryn Graham 2, and Carsyn Clegg 1.
