TheAlbanyLionsjunior varsity basketball teams mixed and matched lineups and coaches over the weekend to go 4-0 at the Albany JV Tournament.

Teams from 14 schools got in four games each Thursday-Saturday, Nov. 30-Dec. 2, despite working around Albany’s involvement in the football playoffs. Games were shifted from Thursday afternoon to Friday afternoon to maketheschedulingwork, then action lasted for more than eight hours Saturday.

On Thursday with Tate Thompson taking the coaching reins, Albany defeatedBreckenridgeand Woodson. Final scores and details of the games were not available.

RyderPeacocktookover a team of mostly Albany freshmen on Saturday. They defeated Stamford 48-33, and the “regular” JV defeated Sweetwater 43-39.

Against Stamford, Albany jumped out to a 13-2 lead and maintained control the rest of the way. Bam Becker scored 14 points, Wesley Gleitz added 12, and Slade Windham had nine.

Against Sweetwater, Albany built just enough of a lead over the middle two periods to hold on. Down 14-13 after one quarter, the Lions took a 22-19 halftime lead and outscored the Mustangs 10-9 in the third quarter.

Aaden Mendez scored 19 points with Brayden Watson adding eight and Brody Oliver seven.
